On a beautiful sunny morning at Graves Park, we had our final race of the season at the Sheffield City Championships where children’s efforts from the whole season is celebrated and the final standings are announced.
This week we took at team of Year 5 children to Ponds Forge for a swimming development festival which had a nice combination of supported races and relays along with some expert tuition from swimming coaches. This was part of the development programme to provide children who have never been to an elite sporting venue such as Ponds Forge to experience being part of a team. Alongside our session, we had the privilege to watch some professional divers preparing for the upcoming Olympics and the Hallam elite swimmers team being put through their paces which was very impressive.
This weekend's race is the last of the league fixtures before the City Championships later in February.

This week, we have been conducting another pupil voice to contribute to our school improvement by involving our pupils at SJS in the self-evaluation, planning and decision making processes. In PE, we aim to listen to our children’s views and take them into account when making decisions on our future offer. Children and young people can offer a powerful and unique perspective on what it is like to be a pupil in a PE lesson and by involving them in the decision-making process, they can make meaningful changes, as well as facilitating a sense of empowerment and inclusion.
Stocksbridge Junior School is delighted to announce the remarkable success of its Year 6 Sports Hall Athletics Team, who demonstrated exceptional teamwork and determination throughout their journey to the Sheffield City Final.
