National Skipping Week at SJS
We are delighted to have taken part in the Sheffield Schools Skipathon Week 2023 with over 50 Sheffield schools and an incredible 15,000 children taking part. The project is about fun physical activity with a motto of ‘fitness through fun for everyone’. The aim is to provide all children with a positive experience of skipping with Mr Tee delivering fun skipping workshops during PE with the hope they will take what they have learnt home with them and continue to hone their skills with the family. In addition, our new Year 6 Sports Leaders are having running practice workshops at lunchtimes which have been very popular.
I just wanted to say a massive well done to everyone for taking part and I look forward to seeing ‘figure of 8s’, ‘cross-overs’ and doubles being performed with success in the future. It has been a joy to see some wonderful videos on Seesaw already, so a big thank you for sharing those with us and if you would like to post further I have set up a Seesaw activity for everyone to show me your skipping, with a bonus if you can get the family involved too.
The Skipathon is going to be featured in the Sheffield Star this week, so keep your eyes peeled for the article and if you want further information you can go to #SheffieldSchoolsSkipathon on Twitter.
